GAV will provide incentive support for postgraduate (Master’s and Doctoral) theses that will contribute original contributions to the literature in the fields of international migration, the Turkish diaspora, and Muslim minorities. This support aims to contribute to the training of qualified human resources in relevant fields and enrich the literature.

The Thesis Incentive Support will be provided to studies selected from proposals submitted to GAV by individuals who are preparing a thesis proposal form for graduate education programs in Türkiye or abroad.

Thesis proposals will be evaluated based on criteria such as their focus on international migration, the Turkish diaspora, and Muslim minorities, their methodological approach, and their potential to contribute original insights to the literature. Researchers whose thesis proposals are selected for support will also receive academic assitance throughout the thesis writing process from the GAV Academic Board.

The GAV Thesis Incentive Support applications for the year 2024 will be accepted online through GAV’s institutional website from March 25, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Thesis Incentive Support will be provided after the thesis proposal is found suitable to be supported by GAV, the applicant has the thesis subject approved by their university and the thesis is defended and found succesful within the earliest completion period specified in the YÖK (Yükseköğretim Kurulu) regulations.

Application Requirement
1. The thesis proposal must be in the scope of one of the following areas: international migration, the Turkish diaspora, or Muslim minorities.
2. The applicant must be in the process of preparing their thesis proposal or have a thesis proposal form approved by their institute.
3. The application must be submitted online through GAV’s institutional website along with the required documents.
4. Application deadline for 2024: December 31 2024.

Documents to be Attached in the Application:
1. Student certificate,
2. Transcript,
3. Thesis proposal or thesis proposal form,
4. Letter of Intent,
5. Detailed curriculum vitae of the applicant,
6. If available, the list of publications of the applicant or the full text of two publications considered important by the applicant among their publicaitons,
7. If available, a list of citations to the applicant’s publications (Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar Citations);
8. If available, a list of projects the applicant has been involved in, academic and administrative positions, memberships in scientific organizations, and any awards received,
9. Reference letters, if available.

Thesis Incentive Support Amounts:
Ph.D Program: 75,000 TL*
Master’s Program: 25,000 TL*
